All you need to know about Firefly

Each Firefly Coach has plenty of space for your baggage. Your ticket includes FREE transportation of 45kg of luggage per passenger, two suitcases or lockable carry bags of 20kg each. This must be placed in the luggage compartment. One small handbag or carry bag under 5kg. This can be taken on board. Please ensure that all of your luggage is labelled with your name, address and contact phone number to avoid any confusion. Our friendly drivers are more than happy to help you load your luggage into the luggage compartment.

We strongly recommend you have an appropriate level of travel insurance.

Additional Luggage

Any extra pieces of luggage will be charged at $20 per piece. Each item must be clearly marked with your full name, address and contact number. Each extra piece of luggage must not exceed 20kg

Special Luggage

Luggage exceeding the allowable limit and or exceeding normal sizes of luggage or any boxed item will be considered freight and charged accordingly, (e.g. Surfboards, ski equipment and musical instruments, bikes or freight) and depending on available space are not guaranteed to depart on requested service, may be held for next available service.

Bicycles

Bicycles of a standard size and without superstructure (max. 25kg) may be carried on most services depending on available space at an additional fee of $30. If sufficient space if not available the bicycle on the same service it may be held for the next available service.

Strollers/Wheelchairs/walking aids

Strollers, wheelchairs and walking aids will be carried free in the luggage area if travelling on the same service as the passenger and must be registered with us at least 36 hours before departure. Please note that due to safety reasons, wheelchairs can only be taken along if they are foldable and without an electric device if not required inside the vehicle.

Conditions of Carriage

Fares

All fares advertised are in Australian dollars, per person, for one way travel only.

Regular fares are transferrable (48 hours notice, from the original travel date and time is required). These fares are non refundable.

In the event of a border closure due to COVID-19, where a Firefly service is suspended or cancelled these fares are transferrable and refundable.

Sale fares apply to limited seats. These fares are non transferrable and non refundable, except in the event of a border closure due to COVID-19, where a Firefly service is suspended or cancelled.

Luggage

The Company accepts no liability for lost or damaged luggage. The company recommends that sufficient luggage insurance be obtained. Luggage allowance per person - 2 suitcases or travel bags, not to exceed 20kg per bag, and a small carry bag, not to exceed 5 kg. Any extra pieces of luggage will be charged at $20 per piece. Each item must be clearly marked with your full name, address and contact number. Luggage exceeding the allowable limit, or any boxed item will be considered freight and charged accordingly. Excess luggage, surfboards, bikes or freight not guaranteed to depart on requested service, may be held for next available service. Hoverboards will not be carried.

Alcohol, Smoking & Drugs

Australian Federal and State Government Regulations prohibit smoking, the consumption of alcohol and the conveyance or ingestion of illicit drugs on coaches. Passengers under the influence of alcohol or illicit drugs will not be permitted to board the coach.

Disruptive Behaviour

Persons behaving in a disruptive manner may be removed from the coach at the sole discretion of the Coach Captain.

Seat Allocation requests are not guaranteed.

Departure Times

Passengers must Check in 30 minutes prior to departure, whether at a Passenger terminal or en route.

Children

All children under the age of 16 years must be accompanied by a chaperon aged 16 years or over. A seat must be purchased for all children.

We strongly recommend that all infants / children travelling on any Firefly Express service , are restrained in an appropriate "child restraint" or "booster seat" that is applicable to their age or size, as is considered an appropriate "restraint / booster" by "Road Safety Road Rules 2009". The decision of the parent / guardian is at their sole discretion, and Firefly/we accept no responsibility or liability in any way for the decision made by the parent / guardian or any loss or damage, or any cost or expense incurred by any person as a direct or indirect consequence of that decision. Where the child is of a suitable age / size, as a minimum the seat belts provided should be used. Children will not be seated in the front row, unless all the other seats are taken up by other children.

Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is highly recommended when making all travel arrangements.

Personal Identification

Photo ID must be carried with you at all times when travelling on a Firefly service . Photo ID must be presented on request. Failure to do so may lead to a cancellation / termination of your travel arrangements with Firefly. Firefly or any of its agents accept NO responsibility or liability in anyway , for any loss, damage , cost or expense incurred by a person as a direct or indirect consequence of not producing photo ID on request.

Other Conditions

The Company, and or their agents, will not be liable for any accident, injury or death or any passenger, nor loss or damage to personal effects or luggage, irrespective of the conditions from which such accident, injury, death, loss or damage may have arisen.

The Company, and or its agents will not be responsible for any inconvenience, or loss occasioned to delays to services and additional cost of accomodation, transport and associated expenses and this includes adverse weather.

The company, and or its agents reserve the right to cancel, vary or substitute any service in any way for any reason deemed necessary.

The company, and or its agents, reserve the right to refuse carriage of any person on any service and to remove any person from any service for any reason or in the interest of other passengers.

No guarantee, express or implied attached to any motor vehicle owned by, leased by, or operated for the company, nor can the operator or its agents accept liability for any loss, delay, cancellation of service, death or irregularity that may occur to be occasioned by any cause whatsoever and it is expressly agreed that all bookings are made and accepted under these stipulations and conditions.

Timetables and fares are subject to alteration without notice.Meals or refreshments are not provided by the company, although stopovers en route will be provided.Minors must be accompanied by an adult at all times.All travel purchased on a Firefly Express service or Firefly Codeshared service is Non Refundable.

A change of travel date and or service (transfer) requires a minimum of 48 hours notice, from the original travel date and time. For safety reasons certain goods or articles cannot be carried, such as weapons, explosive goods and flammable items.

Fruit and vegetables will not be carried due to Government Quarantine RegulationsSeat allocation requests are not guaranteed.Due to safety requirements Firefly Express requires any passenger travelling with a wheelchair, must be accompanied by a carer or escort at all times.

We recommend that you contact Firefly Express a minimum 72 hours prior to departure, as the allocation of a wheelchair accessible coach on a specified or requested service is subject to availability. A wheelchair accessible coach on any Firefly Express service is not guaranteed.Firefly has arrangements with other carriers known as "Codeshare". This means that even if you have made a reservation with Firefly and hold a ticket for a Firefly advertised service, you may travel with another carrier.Firefly Coaches are not responsible for any connections missed due to delays. This includes connections on other carriers. Firefly Coaches will transfer your booking to the next available service on a Firefly service only.All advertised discounted fares, are subject to availability and therefore are not guaranteed.
